报告人简介:Dr Liang obtained his BEng and PhD degrees from Tsinghua University, China, and is a University Senior Lecture at University of Cambridge and Fellow of Churchill College. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He is an Associate Editor of Journal of Hydrodynamics, Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Cambridgeshire Branch, a committee member of the International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research (IAHR) China Chapter, a Technical Programming Committee member of the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE). His main research interests lie in hydrodynamics and hydraulics, in which fields he has published over 190 refereed journal and conference papers. He was awarded the Matsumae International Fellowship, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, Marie Curie Fellowship and Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowship, and received several Best Paper Awards.
报告内容:This talk will address several topics concerning the numerical solution of strong soil-water interactions, such as landslides, sediment transport and wave runup on sandy beaches. The coupling of the two phases will first be achieved in the framework of shallow water equations in the context of flood risk management. Then, the necessity of the coupling will be explained in the context of the stability of earth embankments and offshore pipelines. The traditional shock-capturing mesh-based finite volume method and a modern meshfree method – Material Point Method (MPM) – will be introduced in achieving the coupling.
