This group consists of a marine vehicle technology research team and a National Key Laboratory of Underwater Robotics.
There are 20 researchers, including 5 professors/research fellow, 5 associate professors, among which 5 doctoral supervisors and 13 master supervisors. There are one “973 technical” in chief, one has been elected the national youth talent support program and the new century outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education, and two have special allowances support from the State Council. It is the advanced collective of the national education system, the first batch of ministerial level scientific and technological innovation team, the outstanding graduate education team of Heilongjiang Province and the “Xinghai” innovation team in Harbin Engineering University. It has more than 30 masters and doctoral students graduated every year.
Researches: basic theory and application technology of unmanned platforms such as intelligent underwater robots, remote controlled underwater vehicles, surface unmanned boats, etc. Studies includes overall design, hydrodynamics, structural strength analysis, maneuverability and motion control, underwater navigation, systems simulation and testing, experimental techniques and other researches.
The number of instruments and equipment owned by key laboratories totaled 1,144 sets, and the total value of fixed assets was 85.64 million yuan. Large-scale infrastructure and multi-system design and test equipment such as a well-equipped multi-purpose deep tank, horizontal circulating water tunnel with flat motion mechanism, deep sea pressure simulation device that can be physically pressurized to 8000 meters, and domestic first-class underwater Robot testing and test conditions. Natural water experiments in the lake or in the sea are organized almost every year.
It has undertaken more than 100 projects including the National 863 Project, the High-Tech Ship Project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Defense Pre-Research and the National Defense Basic Research. The research results have won 9 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress (technical inventions) awards (including 2 national second prizes for scientific and technological progress and 3 first-class scientific and technological progress awards).
