The research of naval architecture and ocean engineering mechanics consists structural mechanics and fluid mechanics.
Structural mechanics of naval architecture and ocean engineering
Structural mechanics research group have three teams: environmental load and structural strength research team, ship anti-explosion and underwater launch technology team (Xinghai academic team of HEU), fluid-structure coupling response research team (Young Scientist Studio), totally 21 full-time staffs. Among them, there are 6 professors, 8 associate professors, and 7 lecturers.
The main research topics include ship and floating body wave load prediction, structural response analysis and direct strength calculation, wave load and structural performance test technology, ship environment adaptability, ship structure performance virtual test technology, transient fluid-structure coupling, air bubble Dynamics, underwater launch, structural impact dynamics, vibration and noise reduction, and composite ship material and applications, focusing on solving key issues in ship structure and ocean engineering structure design, calculation and performance test analysis. The research of our group tailors for the shipbuilding and ocean engineering industry.
During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, 40 doctoral students and more than 150 postgraduate students graduated, and more than 20 awards for various education and teaching were granted. It has undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects from the National Key Basic Research (973) Project, the National High-Tech Ship Scientific Research Project, the Natural Science Foundation, the National Defense Pre-Research Project, and the Navy Model Supporting Research Project, and published more than 400 papers, among which 200 articles were included by SCI and EI. We apply and/or obtain more than 30 national patents and more than 10 software copyrights. Received more than 10 national and provincial awards for science and technology awards and teaching awards. The scientific research projects participated or hosted won the National Science and Technology Progress Special Award, the National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize, the National Defense Science and Technology Progress Second Prize, the Heilongjiang Provincial Natural Science Second Prize and other provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress awards. The ship and ocean engineering floating body wave load calculation software developed by the team menber has been listed in the statutory review software catalog by China Classification Society and is being commercialized.
Fluid mechanics of naval architecture and ocean engineering
In this research field, the research group of fluid mechanics (Xinghai academic team of HEU), has 5 professors, 4 associate professors, and 1 Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars.
The main research is oriented in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering, facing the urgent technical needs of the marine industry, aiming at the international frontiers of ship and marine engineering fluid mechanics, carrying out fundamental research and applied research in this field, and striving to break through the bottlenecks in the field of ocean engineering. We have achieved good results in the statistical theory of nonlinear wave environment in deep sea, marine internal wave environment and submarine structural safety simulation, green ship hydrodynamics and international standard formulation.
In the past 5 years, more than 110 master students have been graduated. In scientific research, we completed major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, special projects for national and international cooperation, basic research in national defense, national defense 973 projects, national high-tech ship scientific research projects, etc., and publishes 40 peer review papers in JFM, JCP, AOR, OE and other journals. The contribution of our group have been granted 2 second prize of the National Defense Science and Technology Progress Award.
