Research on experimental technology of naval architecture and ocean engineering

This research field is based on the naval architecture and ocean engineering experimental teaching centre established in 2004. It has basic mechanism laboratories, Naval architecture  and ocean engineering laboratories (including ship model towing tank, engineering structure laboratory, ship manoeuvring laboratory and comprehensive Test equipments), digital shipbuilding laboratory (ship CAD/CAM laboratory) and college students' science and technology innovation center and practice teaching base. The Experimental teaching centre is the only national-level experimental teaching demonstration centre in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering.

The experimental centre currently has 26 staffs, including 3 professors (research fellow) and 9 associate professors (senior experimenters). The existing large-scale instruments and equipment adopt an open sharing mode, which has a high efficiency and operates well when open to others.

During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, more than 100 scientific research projects were completed. The experimental technology research keep going to make breakthrough. We have carried out leading-edge experimental research of domestic leading level, such as the “precision measurement technology of towing tank flow field” and the “hydrodynamic performance testing technology of ship under crushed ice” with unique ability in China. The experimental teaching system has alwaysly been improved; she served the practice teaching task for nearly 400 undergraduate and more than 100 graduates, and nearly 120 students have been awarded student scientific and technological innovations.
