Faculty status: 9 full-time teachers, all with senior professional titles, doctoral degrees and overseas study experience.
Main research direction: wave load theory and calculation analysis technology of NAOE, strength assessment technology of NAOE, structural intelligent sensing and safety assessment technology of NAOE, surface ship actual combat integrated navigation performance optimization and evaluation technology, ice loads and structural performance analysis technology of polar ship and offshore equipment, wave load and structural strength analysis technology of high performance ship, load and structural strength test technology of NAOE, submarine/submersible structural design and safety evaluation technology.
Main scientific research achievements: The team has undertaken many major research projects, including 13 national natural science fund projects, 1 national key basic research (973) project, 1 national key R&D project, 10 high-tech ship projects of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, etc. The projects almost cover all types of military and civilian models. The research results comprehensively apply wave loads of ship and marine structures, structural analysis and test technologies, to solve some key technical problems in the industry and professional fields, which have great influences on the industry. The research results won 1 national special prize for scientific and technological progress, 1 first prize, 5 second prizes, and 2 third prizes of provincial and ministerial level. The team has published more than 100 academic papers in high-level journals at home and abroad, including more than 50 SCI indexed papers, written 5 books, authorized and applied for 20 patents, and more than 50 software copyrights. Representative research results include: ship and ocean engineering wave load software systems, ship and offshore platform structural safety monitoring and evaluation systems, polar ship ice load and structural analysis techniques, actual sea conditions, large-scale ship structure and load model test techniques, structural adaptability test technology in special environments.
International communication and cooperation: The team has long-term cooperation with Prof. Carlos Guedes Soares, Academician of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering, Professor Muk Chen, Academician of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences, and Li Shaofan, a tenured professor of the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, the team also actively supports graduate students to participate in the international conferences of the ship industry, such as OMAE and ISOPE. The number of graduate students who attended the conferences in the past four years has reached 42.
