Faculty status: 13 teachers, including 4 professors (2 foreign professors), 8 associate professors, 2 guest professors of “Changjiang Scholars Award Program” and 1 member of the International Ship and Offshore Structure Conference (ISSC). The team is the main accomplisher of the National ‘111’ Marine Engineering Science and Technology Innovation Intelligence Base.

Main research directions: Design and analysis of the overall performance and positioning system of deep-sea floating structures; structural design analysis of deep-sea floating platform; design and analysis of deep-sea marine risers and sea pipes; model test methods of deep-sea engineering; key technology of underwater foundation and production system

Main scientific research achievements: In recent years, the team has undertaken nearly 50 scientific research projects, including national major projects, key research and development plans, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National ‘863’ Program, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the high-tech ship major projects and special projects of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, , and international cooperation projects, etc. The team has developed unique methods and software for the overall design technology of four typical types of deep-water risers, the coupling analysis technology of riser and platform, the three-dimensional numerical analysis of vortex-induced vibration of riser, and the reduction of vortex-induced vibration of riser. Projects have won 1 first prize of Heilongjiang Province Science and Technology Progress Award and 2 first prize of China Ocean Engineering Technology Progress Award. The team has published nearly 400 academic papers at home and abroad, including more than 40 SCI and more than 200 EI indexed papers, 8 books and textbooks, and nearly 30 invention patents and software copyrights.

Communication and cooperation: The team participates in 3-4 international conferences each year, and hosts the international deep-sea engineering technology seminar (DOSS) every three years. Its international partners include the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at Davis, the University of Michigan, the Oregon State University; the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the University of Stavanger; the City University of England, the University of Strathclyde; and the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal .
