The Basic Laboratory of Mechanics is a national experimental teaching demonstration center for ship and ocean engineering. It consists of a structure mechanics laboratory, a fluid mechanics laboratory and a comprehensive laboratory. The laboratory has basic experimental equipment for three areas: fluid mechanics, structure mechanics, and mechanics in port, waterways and coastal engineering. It serves the educational purposes of helping students understand the basic knowledge and methods, and acquire the basic skills for experimentation of naval architecture, ocean engineering, port, waterways and coastal engineering experiments. By utilizing this facility, students may improve their ability to discover, analyze, and solve problems.
